Craft Room Office Organization - Day 9

Today's task is Office or Craft Room

This room was a tough one but I just did a massive haul a month ago so it was not too bad. It is hard to toss out crafty supplies as you just never know when it might come in handy. I have to say I did get rid of a bunch of paper and stamps and stuff only to make room for more. Created a Facebook buy and sell group for the people of Edmonton. Check it out and see some of the items I have put up for sale. You can add to this page too.

1. PURGE YOUR CRAFT ROOM OR HOME OFFICE
Go through your room and get rid of whatever you don’t need or don’t want. Make a pile for tossing the item or recycling it. Once you have finished purging you can focus on what’s left.

2. GROUP LIKE ITEMS TOGETHER
Group like items and store them together by function.
3. HAVE A DESIGNATED PLACE FOR EVERYTHING
Putting your items in a designated spot will allow you to locate them quickly and easily.
4. USE YOUR SPACE CREATIVELY AND CONSIDER GOING VERTICAL
Things that you use on a regular basis need to be close at hand. Things used less often can be stored up high or down low. Shelves, wall baskets, wall-mounted or magnetic file holders and hooks will be most helpful.
5. USE PRETTY/INTERESTING STORAGE
Beautifully covered fabric boxes, vintage crates and wire baskets all add visual appeal to a creative space. You will be much more likely to keep a pretty space clean.
6. CATCHALL BASKET
Place a catchall basket in the corner to contain items you don’t have time to review and file. Go through the catchall once a week and put the items away properly.
7. TAKE 15 MINUTES TO CLEAN YOU SPACE BEFORE YOU LEAVE
Spend 15 minutes tidying up before you leave your work space every day and your space will stay neat and tidy!
